Introduction.
So, you wanna draw for a living? You are an already working artist looking to pick my brain or you are an old pro looking for reasons to disagree with me and debate my teaching? Maybe you are just curious to see how the sausages is being made?
Yanick’s Art News’s SECRETS OF DRAWING series of posts is for you!
Again and again, I’ve seen young artists (and not so young) falling in the same graphics traps or lacking important notions of perspectives, storytelling, compositions, Anatomy etc. After 30 years of thinking about comics and doing portfolio reviews in private or at shows, I have ended up with a vast set of useful teachings, wisdoms and philosophies to share. My aim is always to deliver an artistic education that is universal, whatever the styles or technique one end up adopting.
First up, my Light theory part #1 (there’s at least two more parts on basic light). As it turned out, I’ve turned that class into a little comic for the shorth lived magazine DC Nation featuring BATMAN (who’s better than this guy to talk about shadows and darkness right?). I had planned a lot more “HOW TO” episodes but I guess I’ll continue them here instead, not feature DC Characters but me instead.
When I’ll get around to set that up, The SECRETS of DRAWINGS will fall under a paid “apprentice” tier along with personalized portfolio reviews, my costume Brushes etc.
But for Now, all can have a taste. Feast, FEAST on my hard acquired wisdom and flourish!!
